FAQ
Answers to the questions people ask most.
What is The Gathered Dawn?
A voxel action RPG. The gods summon you to a realm whose Beacons have gone dark, and you cross it region by region: exploring, fighting, gathering and crafting, and growing stronger as you push into more dangerous lands.
Can I play it yet?
Not yet. The game is in active development and there's no public build. Follow the devlog to see how it's coming along.
What platforms will it be on?
PC first, on Windows and Linux. It's built in the Godot engine, so other platforms may follow later.
How much will it cost?
Pricing hasn't been decided. It will be announced well before release.
Is it multiplayer?
It's being built as a single-player adventure. Companions will travel with you, but online co-op isn't planned right now.
Is this a Cube World clone?
No. Cube World was a big inspiration for the feel of a voxel adventure, and that's where the idea started. The Gathered Dawn goes its own way: a story about fallen Beacons and the gods, regions with lasting progress, MMO-style professions, gear that keeps its value, shrines you claim, companions and a camp, and classes with their own identity.
Can I build or destroy the terrain?
The terrain is fixed, so the world stays the way it was made and every region keeps its shape. Instead of digging through it, you gather from ore veins and herbs. Building will come later at your camp.
Does the world end?
No. The world is generated from a seed and keeps going in every direction, with new regions as far as you travel. The danger keeps rising the farther out you go.
Will there be classes?
Yes. Classes like the Warden, Wayfinder, Runesmith, Wildcaller and Shadowblade are planned, each with a talent tree that branches into specializations. Some, like the Wildcaller, will summon creatures to fight beside you.
Do I have to manage hunger and thirst?
Survival needs are planned, but they'll reward you for looking after yourself more than they punish you, and you'll be able to turn them down or off.
