Armour you can see, and inventory tabs

Armour you can see, and inventory tabs

The inventory now has three tabs: your bag, your equipment and your character's stats. The Equipment tab shows a preview of your hero that you can spin around, with head, chest, hands and feet slots beside it.

Armour finally shows on your character. Put on an iron helm and a helm appears on your head; plate changes your whole outfit. There are fifteen pieces so far. Leather drops from goblins, and copper, iron and silver sets are forged with Smithing. Each point of defense lowers the damage you take.

Painted pieces for the tabletop map

Painted pieces for the tabletop map

The map used to mark things with plain shapes. Now every marker is a small painted miniature: a hero figure with a pointer showing which way you face, striped goblin tents with a campfire, tiny shrines whose crystal changes colour once attuned or corrupted, swallowtail flags for pins, and ore and herb minis tinted to match.

Combat with weight behind it

Combat with weight behind it

Swinging a sword used to look like the hero barely moved. Every swing now has a wind-up, a fast strike and a follow-through, and the body twists and lunges into it. The three hits of the combo are different moves: a diagonal slash, a backhand sweep, then an overhead slam with a little hop that kicks up dust.

Running got the same treatment: a forward lean, a bob on each step, arms pumping, and dust at your feet when sprinting.

Trees that don't look like blocks

Trees that don't look like blocks

Trees were stacks of one-metre blocks, which read as the wrong game entirely. They're now detailed voxel models with tapered trunks, root flares and soft, clumpy canopies that sway in the wind. Oaks, birches, blossom trees, pines, cacti, bushes, rocks, mushrooms and ferns all got the same pass.

Regions, shrines and levels

Regions, shrines and levels

The world is now made of named regions that get more dangerous the farther you go. Every region has a shrine to attune to, which becomes your respawn point and a fast-travel stop on the map. Outer shrines start corrupted and guarded. Character levels and XP arrived too, along with goblin archers, shamans, brutes and elites.
